ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - Duluth East put the dagger in Moorhead early in this year's state high school hockey tournament, beating the Spuds 1-0 in the Class 2A quarterfinal game. Jack Kolar tallied the Greyhound's lone goal early in the second period with an assist from Alex Toscano. Although the Spuds made a late push, the score belied the balance of the game, which was dominated in shots and hits by Duluth East. The Greyhounds will take on the winner of the Edina-Lakeville North game tomorrow evening at 6 at the Xcel Energy Center. Since the early 1990s, the Spuds have made it to the state championship game seven times, and all seven have finished as second-place bridesmaids.
