DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Special ceremonies to honor veterans on Memorial Day are being held across the region. The Duluth Honor Guard members will hold services at local cemeteries early in the day Monday and a special ceremony is being held at the Gary New Duluth Veterans Memorial at the corner of Stowe Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Mayor Don Ness and Vietnam veteran Brad Bennet are keynote speakers. The original monument, built in 1952, has undergone a 100 thousand dollar restoration. The annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 12:30 p-m at 59th Avenue West and follows Grand Avenue to 46th Avenue West, disbanding near the Denfeld High School. Memorial Day events are also being held at the Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior where the Superior SIngers will present a free concert at 1 p-m.
