Duluth, MN (KDAL) - There were no major injuries after a pair of planes carrying skydivers collided in midair Saturday evening. The Superior Police Department says the planes collided somewhere over the area of South Superior. One of the planes crashed in the area of the Douglas County Fairgrounds while the other was able to land at the Richard I. Bong Airport. Both pilots were accounted for and all of the skydivers were all able to safely jump from the planes. None of their names have been released. A witness, who was working at a restaurant near the airport, told K-D-A-L News at around the time of the collision, she heard a loud boom and saw small flames and debris falling to the ground out one of the business’s windows. Wreckage appeared to be scattered from the airport to Nemadji Golf Course. Investigators from the F-A-A and N-T-S-B are due to arrive Sunday morning.
