MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Twins all-star catcher Joe Mauer will make the official switch to a full time first baseman in 2014. The decision was made by the team after consulting with Mayo Clinic doctors following a season ending concussion in August. The 30 year old just won his 5th Silver Slugger Award as the best offensive catcher in the American League. Mauer hit .324 with 11 home runs in 113 games in 2013.
