Lorde now has something in common with Carly Rae Jepsen .

"Royals" has just passed its ninth week atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  The last song from a female artist to rule the chart for that many weeks was Carly, whose "Call Me Maybe" topped the chart for nine weeks in 2012.

More impressively, Lorde is now one of only five women in history who've spent that long at #1 with a song on which they're the lead artist. Besides Lorde and Carly, the others are Ke$ha , whose "Tik Tok," which was #1 for nine weeks in 2010; Ashanti , whose "Foolish," which was #1 for 10 weeks in 2002; and Debby Boone , whose song "You Light Up My Life" was #1 for 10 weeks in 1977.

Elsewhere on the chart, OneRepublic has scored its second top-five hit with "Counting Stars."  Their only other top-five hit was "Apologize," back in 2007.  Also, Passenger's "Let Her Go" becomes his first-ever top-10 hit.
