DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Vist Duluth President and CEO Terry Mattson is leaving the organization following this year's AMSOIL Duluth National Snocross at Spirit Mountain. Mattson began working at, what was then called, the Duluth Convention and Visitors Bureau in 1985 and has been the president and CEO since 1990. During that time Mattson has overseen increases in tourism sales and revenue in 23 of the last 24 years as the tourism industry has grown to have an 800 million dollar economic impact on Duluth each year. Among the highlights of Mattson's Visit Duluth career are the creation of the Tall Ships Festival and the Annual Snocross Races at Spirit Mountain. Mattson, who is 51, does not plan on retiring and has been approached to provide some consulting services for tourism projects in other parts of the country.
