Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Last Place on Earth owner Jim Carlson has been sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison following his conviction last fall on 51 of 55 federal counts for selling mis-branded synthetic drugs. US Judge David Doty handed down the sentence this afternoon. Following his prison term, Carlson will be on supervised release for three years. Co-defendant Lava Haugen was also sentenced to 5 years in prison. She too will be on supervised release for three years. Carlson's son Joseph Gellerman's sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
