DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Retired mail carrier Gary Fitch passed through Duluth on Sunday as he continued his walk from International Falls to the State Fair in St. Paul to raise money to fight hunger in the state. The 62 year old is walking 300 miles and is hoping to raise at least 300 thousand dollars to start an endowment fund that would provide enough interest to buy 30 to 40 thousand pounds of food each year for food shelves across Minnesota. While in Duluth, Fitch joined members of the National Association of Letter Carriers for their annual picnic at Lester Park on Sunday. His walk followed Highway 53 from International Falls to Duluth, he will be on Highway 23 from Duluth to Sandstone and then takes Highway 61 for the rest of the trip to his hometown of St. Paul.
