A Lifetime rep tells E! Online the honor will go to R&B singer Deborah Cox .
The rep says "music rights and clearances are still being worked out," but Cox will be providing the "vocal tracks."
Angela Bassett , who co-starred with Houston in the 1995 film Waiting to Exhale , will be making her directorial debut with the biopic, which will reportedly focus on Houston's relationship with Bobby Brown .
Houston's family is not involved with the production.
