Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Despite chilly and foggy conditions, Grandma’s Marathon enthusiasts packed Canal Park and Superior Street, cheering on runners who were tackling the 26-point-two mile long course. And they weren’t disappointed—as Dominic Ondoro of Kenya beat Dick Beardsley’s 33 year-old record with a winning time of 2:09:06.
On the women’s side, 27 year-old Pasca Myers won with a time of 2:33:43, besting her personal best of 2:34:24. Last year’s winner, Sarah Kiptoo, finished in third place with a time of 2:34:55.
In the half marathon, 32 year-old Julius Koskei of Hebron crossed the finish line first on the men’s side with a time of 1:03:36. On the women’s side, Cynthia Limo of Lansing, Michigan came within four-one-hundredths of a second of matching the record set in 2012 by Kara Goucher.
In the men’s wheelchair division, Gyudae Kim of South Korea, or G-D, was the winner with a time of 1:36:11. On the women’s side, Susannah Scaroni crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:02:53.
