OneRepublic goes country Friday night, as they star in a new episode of the CMT series Crossroads . The band teams up with country star Dierks [derks] Bentley to swap vocals on each other's hits, including "Counting Stars."
The two acts also perform a cover version of the U2 hit, "Pride (in the Name of Love)" -- fitting, since OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder is working on U2's new album as a producer. However, one song they'd planned to cover, but didn't, is the current hit "Hey Brother," by Avicii. Why? Because they couldn't stop laughing.
Dierks tells ABC News Radio that during rehearsals, Ryan kept singing different lyrics to the song to crack Dierks up. For example, Ryan replaced the line, "Hey brother, do you still believe in one another?" with "Hey brother, did you know your sister is your mother?"
"I was like, 'You're ruining [it]. We're never gonna be able to sing the song now 'cause we're gonna be cracking up the entire time,'" Dierks explains.
CMT Crossroads with Dierks Bentley and OneRepublic premieres Friday night at 10 ET.
