Duluth, MN (KDAL) - After seven years at the helm at the St. Louis River Alliance, Executive Director Julene Boe is retiring. Bill Majewski, who is the president of the alliance board, tells K-D-A-L News he first learned that Boe was mulling retirement in March. He adds that Boe has done a “…tremendous job advancing the programs and initiatives..." of the St. Louis River Alliance, which has worked to bridge the clean-up efforts of both Minnesota and Wisconsin along the river. A decision on whether another Executive Director will be tapped hasn’t been made and Majewski notes that the board is working with the staff in the office on future plans. Officials unveiled their plan to clean up the St. Louis River from Lake Superior through the estuary to Cloquet about a year ago. While some plans remain sketchy for the alliance, Majewski believes raising public awareness about the estuary cleanup is going to be a big part.
