Duluth, MN (KDAL) - If your commute takes you along West First Street in Duluth, take note—a stretch of the thoroughfare will be closed beginning Wednesday morning. The closure, between Third and Fourth Avenue West, is necessary according to the city, because of the A-T-&-T communications tower project and the larger equipment required to complete the task. Crews have been dismantling the towering structure, which has been a mainstay in Duluth’s skyline for several years. West First could be closed for up to a month depending on the weather. Viant Crane, the city and the Greater Downtown Council are working with the impacted stores to ensure there’s access to each business. Delivery services and handicapped parking will be available. There will be access to the Y-M-C-A and sidewalks on the upper side will remain open. Those on the lower side, however, will be closed. The closure begins at 6:00 A.M.
