Duluth, MN (KDAL) - For the first time she’ll have a chance to enjoy not only the Duluth-Superior Film Festival, but also Duluth’s summer weather! Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke is in Duluth, appearing at the annual film festival which showcases independent films of yesterday and today. Duke, who starred in the 1972 winter-thriller ‘You’ll Like My Mother’—which was shot at the Glensheen Mansion, known then as the ‘Congdon Mansion’, was last in Duluth for the shooting of ‘Iron Will’. However, she tells K-D-A-L News that she wasn’t on camera—rather she was in town to be with her son Mackenzie Astin, who was in the lead role of the 1992 Disney film. During an exclusive in-studio interview, Duke says that Mackenzie told festival organizers last year that they should invite his mother. While Duke’s visit happens at a time when temperatures should be milder—especially after a gorgeous Memorial Day weekend—wouldn’t you know that the lake would greet her with brisk east wind. Duke will be in Duluth through the festival’s finale, the screening of ‘You’ll Like My Mother’ Sunday night at Glensheen. The Duluth-Superior Film Festival begins Wednesday evening.
