...the urban and small stream flood advisory for rapid river rises
remains in effect until 900 pm cdt for douglas...southern st.
louis...washburn...burnett...pine and carlton counties...
at 640 pm cdt...rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches in the last 24
hours have caused rapid rises in rivers and creeks along with some
road closures. douglas county emergency management advises
travelers this evening to be careful of flooded roads due to high
water in the county. highway m west of solon springs was
water-covered according to the douglas county highway department
around 600 pm. also...route 87 south of grantsburg in grantsburg
township in burnett county has been reported water-covered by the
burnett county sheriff.
the heavy rain has ended across the advisory area with only light
rain falling through 900 pm. however...runoff from the heavy rains
will continue to flow into area rivers and creeks. this may cause
rapid rises in water levels and flooded roadways. travelers should
be cautious as nightfall approaches and be aware of possible flooded
roadways.

most flood deaths occur in automobiles. never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the road. when encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice...turn around...dont drown.
