DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – In the final meeting of the year, the St. Louis County Board approved a 463 million dollar budget for 2022.
Just over a third of the budget is funded by the property tax levy which saw a nearly 6 percent increase from 2021.
The impact to property owners is expected to be lower because of a 4 percent increase in the tax base.
The Board also approved the purchase and use of body cams for the Sheriff’s Office for 790 thousand dollars to be paid over five years.
The County is opting in to a couple of national opioid settlements with a drug distributor and manufacturer.
The County’s share of settlement funds is estimated at more than 10 million dollars but is yet to be finalized.
