DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The free Christmas tree recycling program begins this week with several drop off locations in the region.
The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) reminds residents that trees cannot be thrown in the trash and their tree-cycling program will re-use the trees for fuel, mulch for paths and other purposes while saving landfill space.
In Duluth, drop off sites are open through January 10th at Chester Bowl, Lester Park by the playground, the Duluth Heights Community Club, Woodland Community Club, the Rose Garden parking lot and the City of Duluth tool house on Commonwealth Avenue.
In Carlton County, sites at SAPPI Fine Paper and the Moose Lake Compost site are open through January 16th.
Other sites at the WLSSD Yard Waste Compost site and the Materials Recovery Center are open through the end of January.
