DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – As of Monday morning, the Superior National Forest has lifted the campfire and charcoal grill restrictions that were put in place to reduce the chances of wildfires.
Rain over the last week has made conditions acceptable to lift fire restrictions in the Superior National Forest including the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
Two to three inches of widespread rain in the region recently has helped to reduce the drought levels across northern Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is also lifting burning restrictions in Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties, effective Monday at 6 p.m.
Recent rain has reduced, although not eliminated, wildfire risk in northeast Minnesota.
Minnesotans are encouraged to stay alert as fire danger can change quickly with a few warm or windy days.
