DULUTH, MN (KDAL & Northern New Now) – On Sunday, 232 hospital patients were transferred from the old to the new Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The move was completed in less than seven hours using a professional transfer company and about 500 Essentia volunteers.
The first to be moved, at 7:01 Sunday morning, was 34 year old Bethany Johnson of Chisholm who is expecting the birth of her second child.
With the patient transfer complete and the emergency department at the new facility now open, the old St. Mary’s Hospital will soon be demolished.
