SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Superior Fire Department responded to the Cenovus Superior Refinery just before 8 a-m Wednesday on reports of a fire in a process unit.
On arrival, crews were updated that there was no fire but there was an ongoing propane gas release.
Emergency response personnel utilized a water fog stream to dissipate the propane and the release was stopped around 9:25.
Air monitoring was conducted inside and outside the facility with no vapors detected.
Non essential Cenovus personnel were temporarily evacuated as a precaution and there was no danger to the public.
