HIBBING, MN (Northern News Now) – A 9-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries in an ATV crash near Hibbing on Thursday evening.
According to the Hibbing Police Department, officers responded around 7:05 p-m to the 11000 block of Carey Lake Road for a report of an ATV crash with injuries.
Authorities say an adult man was operating the ATV with two young passengers when he lost control of the vehicle. The ATV struck an object, ejecting the driver and both girls.
A 9-year-old girl was airlifted to Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth with life-threatening injuries. A 4-year-old girl was taken to Fairview Range with minor injuries.
The driver was not injured and did not require medical treatment.
Police said impairment was not considered a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
