DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – To support victims and witnesses as they participate in the justice process, the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office has introduced a professionally trained courthouse dog.
Yonkers, a Labrador retriever, is the 8th courthouse facility dog in Minnesota.
He works alongside his primary handler, Assistant County Attorney Jackie Primeau, in the County Attorney’s Office and can provide a calm, steady presence during victim and witness meetings.
Yonkers received extensive training before being matched with Primeau and the team completed their skills certification in August.
The County Attorney’s Office also announced funding for ballistic protective vests for law enforcement K-9 teams. Two vests will go to Sheriff K-9 teams and one each to the Duluth and Virginia Police Departments.
